Here is a portion of the email I received and mentioned in the last post. I’ll leave it to readers to decide whether it means something may happen in the Stacey Burns murder case. (I thought New Hampshire had a “Cold Case Unit” in place, even after the grant money of a few years ago ran out. Can anyone explain how a list of cold cases exists but the unit which might investigate them does not exist?)
Here’s the “encouraging” email from a state rep.
We just received an inquiry from The Office of Governor Sununu.
( will let you know, where they are on the following should they provide further feedback)
The Interest is now extending to Washington, DC officials – Concord, NH officials – Selected News outlet’s (Local and Major)
Dear Attorney General Gordon Mac Donald:
I am very much in favor of the Cold Case Unit, I think it has done a great job. But we have had a very hard time getting funding . I think that it would be a good thing to appeal to the Governor. You seem to be like I am, you have a great deal of compassion for the family. I will do anything I can do to help to get the funding. We need to get the funding this year. Please let me know what I can do. Maybe a meeting with the Governor to plead our case. I am available any time. I remember the hearing when people begged us to fund the unit. I was very moved by their stories. I am very happy to see you have an interest in the cold case unit.
Sincerely
Rep. Laura Pantelakos

Very encouraging news!
There has been 2 Wolfeboro area murders with possible connections to high level criminal activity involving public officials. There has been a Wolfeboro public official convicted of drug crimes in another state. There has been two major Wolfeboro area drug busts. A Wolfeboro police officer was convicted of stealing drugs out of the police department evidence room. A simple call to the FBI asking them to get involved side steps state funding issues and removes the appearance of corruption involving high level officials and the NHBA.
Your question is easy Mr. Southard. The list got paid for but the detective ‘walking around money’ dried up. Stacey’s case needs courage and you just can’t fund raise courage. Sorry Laura but the cash is better spent on vacations and pensions.
Jim, you could not even be truthful to the police at the very beginning. Neither could your ex wife. Walking around money? I have seen plenty of investigators in town on this case in the last year.
You could actually be a good lead in this case. Thing is ,you are a very deceitful man. Can I actually call you man ? You in all preponderance have made fun of this all the way thru this blog. “Walking Backwards”.
