Eight years ago, right around this time (10:30-11:00 am, May 10, 2009) a son and daughter were looking down in utter disbelief and shock at their mother, murdered in her own bed in the quiet, peaceful town of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. May you rest in peace, Stacey Burns. I did not know you but over the last six and a half years feel as if I’ve become acquainted with the special woman you were to your family, friends and community. You are loved and missed terribly.
Now to the encouragement- I’ve actually conversed with a detective from the New Hampshire State Police in recent days. His words and his attitude have convinced me that there really is an active investigation going on the case of the murder of Stacey Burns. This, to me, is encouraging news . It is easy to become discouraged because of the passage of eight years with no solution but this detective made me feel as though the case remains important at least to one and hopefully others in authority.
So, Stacey and all those who care about her, there is hope. We can only pray that the effort pays off in bringing her cowardly killer into a courtroom.
Duke
Thank you Duke, your effort and concern is so heart warming. I have not seen such dedication in my lifetime. It has always been hard for me to comprehend how Stacey’s murder has not been solved.
I am also encouraged that this case is active and important. She and her family need justice.

I sure hope the state pursues this case for the family and betterment of the residents of Wolfeboro. No one likes the thought of failure and until resolved we have all failed. Not to mention ..a murder or two..still walk amoungst us….
I have actually conversed with several of them, little ‘yes men’ for Strelzin and co. The problem isn’t on Hazen dr. , it’s on main st. Looks like Strong has gotten the O.K to B.S. you though. Hey if you believe the Russians stole our election believing this putz is easy.
Reading this post renews my faith. I didn’t know Stacey either but am truly saddened this hasnt been solved. RiP. Thank you again Mr Southard for keeping this matter active and doing what you are doing.
I lit another candle for Stacey yesterday on her anniversary. May she rest in peace. May her murderer finally be brought to justice.
Duke its good to hear good news.
New Hampshire has a new Ag. That’s very good news for sure. He has already set out to bring a suspect into custody on another homicide. Let’s just hope that he continues in his efforts. Also our current Governor Chris Sonunu is now backing cold case files. Could it be that some one at the Federal level actually listened?
I have caused so much stink.Happy Days are coming for sure.
I will never forget hearing about this the day after it happened. I knew Stacey from the Olympia Gym classes we attended together. Was horrified that she was so brutally murdered, and no closure after all these years. I so hope that the murderer is found and brought to justice. I can’t imagine that he or she can live knowing what they did. RIP Stacey. And thanks for this info, Duke.
Investigations still require asking guestions, all stones still need to be overturned.
Perseverance for the truth and justice must pay off at some point. No detail is to small or insignificant to help solve this murder. RIP Stacy as many hope and pray justice will be yours one day no matter how long it takes.
