As promised, here is another question posed by a gentleman at my last program on the Stacey Burns book project.
(paraphrased) Why wouldn’t Mr. Ed Burns, Stacey’s ex-husband, or at least almost ex-husband, want to have his side of the story told in your book?(The reason for the “almost” is that my understanding is a final settlement hearing was going to be held the Monday after Stacey’s murder so maybe the divorce was not final at the time when she died.)
My answer? I truly don’t understand it. Letters sent to him by regular mail and by registered mail were not answered. The registered letter was returned, not signed for, therefore unopened.
If the 20/20 television show is any indication, I would assume that the lawyer for Mr. Burns would advise him to not answer any questions about this case. If I were Mr. Burns, I would welcome the chance to be able to offset negative things that have been said about me. However, I’m not Ed Burns and it is over six year since his former wife was murdered, so why would he want to revisit this horrific event again? Of course, my requests were made several years ago.
So, Mr. Burns or any other representative , how would you answer the question raised at my presentation? Why wouldn’t you want your story told?

Because He’s GUILTY!!!!!!! A lot of ppl claim its Jim But really think about it Why would he be driven to kill a short time girlfriend If he was to kill anyone don’t you think it would have been his own wife? Ex wife?
Because if Ed isn’t guilty than he has nothing to tell anyone and why should sn innocent man have to defend himself. The killer walks amongst all of Stacies friends in the Wolfeboro area who know the truth but refuse to come forward out of fear because the killer is do close. I would imagine the scumbag who comment using Stacies name is the killer himself. Unfortunately the killer knows the area and had means to discard the evidence needed to arrest and convict him. Ed Burns was never going to win father or husband of the year awards but he didn’t commit this brutal crime .
My question to Ed is “was it worth it?” His family and friends know what he did. Jeff Strelzin may be fine with it but I’m thinking one day maybe those kids will demand some answers and by then Strelzin will hopefully be in D.C. where he belongs.
Jim – Do you know Ed’s family and friends? Have you talked to them? Have they told you they know he did it? Do they have proof he did it?
If what you say is true did you report these findings to the police? If anyone “knows” who murdered Stacey they certainly should be taking a stand and reporting it to the proper authorities instead of to you!
Perhaps Ed is trying to protect his children by not being as vocal as you and Jamie seem to be. As Hunter says Ed has no reason to be constantly discussing this.
I know if my Mother was murdered I would not want to be hearing or reading about it constantly!
I have faith in the Justice System. The killer will mess up! It may be later than it is sooner, but the killer will be caught.

This investigation has come to an almost stand still. Although I believe solid evidence is still being processed and a once in awhile investigator in town, this reader simply accepts the fact that this is now a case embroiled in politics of the state. I am hoping with new leadership as high as the governors office, an arrest will not be made.
My fear is that the woman who committed this brutal act will disappear into the sunset herself. The other fear is that because of her psychosis, there will be further violence. Hiding in plain view does not always work.
